Consultation
We aim to ensure that the transformation meets the needs of the majority of potential users.
To that end, we have produced a consultation survey that we would like residents of the villages to review and feedback their views
The play area is well loved and well used and has come along way over the years - along with the community centre - when you consider the area was a cherry orchard in the early 1970's.
While the community centre has seen significant capital investment over the years to significantly improve capacity and futureproof it by making the most of sustainability funding, the playground has attracted less funding. The significant efforts of previous volunteers have resulted in the replacement of some play apparatus and the introduction of new to increase the offering to the children in the area.
Whilst functional, some of the older pieces are over 30 years old now. Some pieces need replacing and others can cause slips and trips.
Our transformation aims to build on the success of the previous playground and make it a space that is fit for the next 30 years of use by our children.
Funding
The Community Association has commited £40,000 to supporting this transformation project.
We hope also to have significant financial support from Monk Fryston Parish Council.
A focus and delivery group has been created to review and plan all options for this project.
The finished project will see a complete transformation of the existing playground site.
There is an option to consider transforming the additional large green space into a Multi Use Games Area - which will provide additional play space for older children.
Non of this will come cheap and we will be seeking funding from a number of external options.
